Our physicians are board-certified. What does that mean?
To attain board certification, physicians must meet high standards for education, training and clinical skills set by national boards in colon-rectal surgery and in general surgery. Not all physicians meet this standard of excellence. Board certification in general surgery is required before a doctor can become board-certified in colon-rectal surgery. Drs. Lapos, Sinnott, Rakhmanine and Park are board-certified in colon-rectal surgery.
Linda L. Lapos, M.D.
Dr. Lapos is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery and her residency in colon-rectal surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Dr. Lapos is past president of the medical staff of Lehigh Valley Health Network. She has a special interest in colonoscopy and ano-rectal problems, and is experienced in transanal endoscopic microsurgery. She has been in practice since 1991.
Dr. Lapos is board-certified in colon-rectal surgery. She is a fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and of the American College of Surgeons.
Mikhail I. Rakhmanine, M.D.
Dr. Rakhmanine graduated from St. Petersburg Medical School in 1989. He completed his general surgery residency and a burn fellowship at Nassau County Medical Center, East Meadow, N.Y., and a fellowship in surgical critical care at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. He completed his colon-rectal surgery residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa.
Dr. Rakhmanine has a special interest in difficult colonoscopy, minimally invasive robotic laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, nonsurgical treatment of hemorrhoids, treatment of fecal incontinence, and transanal endoscopic microsurgery. He began his colon-rectal practice in the Lehigh Valley in 2000.
Dr. Rakhmanine is board-certified in colon-rectal surgery, surgical critical care and general surgery. He is a fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and of the American College of Surgeons.
John S. Park, M.D.
Dr. Park is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his general surgery residency at Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, and his colon-rectal surgery residency at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey.
Specializing in minimally invasive robotic laparoscopic surgical techniques, Dr. Park also has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, and colonoscopy. He began practice in colon-rectal surgery in 2001.
Dr. Park is board-certified in colon-rectal surgery and in general surgery. He is a fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Park is Lehigh Valley Health Network program director of the networks residency program in colon-rectal surgery.
Kristen Lee Halm, M.D.
Dr. Halm is a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in General Surgery at Christiana Health Network in Newark, DE. She completed her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
She Is board certified in Colorectal surgery and General surgery, She is a fellow of the America College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She is the assistant program director of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency.
She prides herself n the Delivery of compassionate care and specializes in the diseases and problems of the colon, rectum, and anus. She has special interest in colon and rectal cancers, as well as benign diseases including diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and fecal incontinence, She has expertise in minimally invasive surgical approaches.
William Sangster, M.D.
Dr. Sangster is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, and his fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Ferguson Clinic/Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Dr. Sangster has interests in Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, colon, and rectal cancer and diverticulitis. He specializes in the use of minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques for the management of the surgical disease.
As a colorectal surgeon, Dr. Sangster strives to provide the highest level of care while treating his patients with the respect and dignity that they deserve. He is board-certified in Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Physician Assistant A.J. Peiffer
Mrs. Peiffer earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Moravian College and a bachelor of science degree as a Physician Assistant from Rutgers University, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She is a board-certified and Pennsylvania state-licensed Physician Assistant, and has been in practice since 1991. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania State Society of Physician Assistants.
